Denmark has ambitious net-zero commitments, a long history of leadership in the renewable energy sector, and globally recognized success in transforming its energy system. In Fall 2022, the GHC, the Trade Council of Denmark in North America, eleven leading Danish companies, and other key stakeholders established the US-Denmark Green Hydrogen Alliance to foster greater collaboration and production of green hydrogen on both sides of the Atlantic.
To further that goal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, alongside the GHC, will host another Energy Transition fact-finding trip to Denmark from October 27- November 1, 2024. The GHC is leading the invitations to California policymakers and government leaders for this international exchange of ideas and to see firsthand some of Denmark’s world-leading green hydrogen and e-fuel infrastructure.
2. GHC Policy and Regulatory Advocacy
2024 Legislative Milestone Wins:
The GHC is excited to announce two significant bills from this year that advance clean and renewable hydrogen projects in California: SB 1420 on hydrogen and bioenergy and AB 1921 on linear generators!
SB 1420 - Hydrogen Production Facilities: Certification and Environmental Review. Enrolled on September 6, SB 1420 (Caballero) expands the types of facilities eligible to be certified as environmental leadership development projects to include hydrogen production facilities, associated onsite storage, and processing facilities that do not derive hydrogen from a fossil fuel feedstock and that receive funding from specified state and federal programs within the definition of “energy infrastructure project.”
AB 1921 Energy - Renewable Electrical Generation Facilities: Definition. Enrolled on August 22, AB 1921 (Pappan) revises the definition of “renewable electrical generation facility” to include a facility that uses fuel cells or linear generators that use specified fuels. This definition is incorporated into various programs, including the California Renewables Portfolio Standard Program and the new energy metering program.
